CPP20218 – Certificate II in Security Operations is designed in consultation with the relevant stakeholders to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge required to work in the security industry.
ASEC offers training for CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations which qualifies you to obtain an ACT Security Licence Subclass 1(a), 1(c) and 1(e). The course consists of 7 – 14 days home based pre-course study and 5 days in class training.
Each course requires that you attend an Information Session two weeks prior to your face to face commencement date. Once you submit your enrolment and pay the $100 to secure your seat, you will receive an email giving you the date and times of the Information Session. You must reply to this email. At this Information Session the course will be explained and you will complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment. If deemed competent you will then pay the balance of your fees (a $100 admin fee was paid at enrolment – leaving $1400 to pay) and you will be given your pre-course study manual to take home. It is mandatory that you complete all of the work assigned in the pre-course study component. Failure to do so will mean that you will be rescheduled to a course at a later date (ASEC is happy to transfer you to a later course if you are unable to complete the pre-course study in the given time – a maximum of one transfer is permitted per student). You will then attend CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations including HLTAID011 and HLTAID009 on your chosen date. During the face to face learning component you will be expected to apply the learning and theory from your pre-course study into practical scenarios and assessments or exams. The in-class week is delivered through face to face presentations, practical demonstrations of security equipment, relevant industry scenarios, group discussions and a range of other learning techniques and assessments to get the most out of each individual.
Completing your Certificate II in Security Operations which includes First Aid is part of the process in obtaining an ACT Security Licence. This licence will give you the opportunity to apply for positions in such areas as crowd control, airport security, screening, mobile patrols, static guarding, concierge duties and retail loss prevention, just to name a few.
ASEC recommends that you consider undertaking Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) as this enables you to work at sites where alcohol may be served ie cricket, football, private and government functions. ASEC also recommends undertaking Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card) as this would allow you to do patrols or work on sites where construction is taking place. RSA and White Card are done separately to Certificate II in Security Operations including First Aid.
